What Is More Important: Quantity vs. Quality
What Is More Important: Quantity vs. Quality Well, so guys, I was having a conversation with a friend and we were talking about content. We were talking about quantity versus quality and which one is more important or which is more helpful because one of the arguments that were being made on one side was that there can sometimes be so much content that people take it for granted.
And also then, it becomes so much that people kind of figure out which is the most important information, right? And then there can be so little content, also that the quality can be high, but it is not consistent enough to keep anyone’s attention and to gain the loyalty that is needed. These are very good conversations and very good points. The way I look at it is that when you start, you need to make it about both.
Maintaining the consistency in the quality of information
What Is More Important: Quantity vs. Quality You need to make it about higher quality, but also a lot of content. I know it’s very difficult to maintain consistency in the quality of information that you put out there when you also focus on quantity.
Now, what I think usually happens is that when you try to get as much good content as you can, out there, it gives you an opportunity to test every possible parameter.
You are able to test timing, you are able to test day of the week, you’re able to test any kind of message, and you’re able to test the quality of the message. And so what happens is, if you create a new platform and you begin to put out a lot of content over time, you actually have a high incidence of engagement as well as high incidents of non-engagement, that you can look back on and be able to properly analyze, to see what people actually were connected with and what they were on it.
It is really about quality than it is about quantity
What Is More Important: Quantity vs. Quality You can also be able to figure out what times were best and what days of the week were best and what kinds of content were best for your audience?
When I was comparing pictures with videos, I personally thought of folks that are beginning, the onset of their marketing strategy or campaign or new platforms. It is okay to increase the volume of what you are putting out and this strategy works. Without knowing the kind of content, the style of content, and how much content is going to be impactful for your platform, volume is fine.
Still keeping the quantity and the quality there, so that you can keep people’s attention, it is difficult to create quality content consistently. So what is going to happen is that you are going to come up with a point, pick what you need, pick what is connecting, pick what is impactful, and pick what is consistent enough for you.
Because when you look through all that data, you are going to realize which ones you enjoyed and which ones felt more like you and which ones also resonated with your audience. And then you can now begin to narrow down and then increase the quality and decrease the quantity. So eventually it is really about quality than it is quantity, but I think at the onset, it makes sense to allow some volume, even if the goal is to increase the quality of what you’re trying to put out.
